Went to play trivia at Opal Divines last night. We were running second most of the time and then they started asking boy questions, ie: what car has the smallest engine block in history? (or something like that) obviously don't know much.

I should have been a lawyer. They went down to my buying price which was $40000 lower than the appraisal they gave. Who rocks? I do!!

Working on new pieces seems to be going okay. There is a block in creative flow and this makes for crappy art.

So we went to eat at this new pizza place down the street that seemed to not have a lot of people at it. It was wonderful and just the right amount of food. you get a 12" pizza and a spinach salad with 2 drinks for under $20. pretty nice. We got the Margarita pizza! Amazing! I believe it's called House Pizzeria on Airport. Try it!

Think about those for a while.

Sunday Merc and I made garden sculptures for our yard. We have(had) two buckets of junk that we found in the backyard when we moved in to the
house.  Various curious items: rebar, baby shoes, corregated green plastic, beer cans from the 70's, nuts and bolts (lots of them), a lot of different gauges of wire.  We made a total of 6 sculptures. I will post pics very soon.

New Month

This is a chaotic month, where I have to pay taxes and the mortgage, money is short. I am going to my hearing today to appeal my tax appraisal on the house. I'm a little freaked out, never been to court. I do not particularly like the man. I have the NAT art opening. I am tired. I need to make more art, but with these issues I have no inspiration. I cannot find any reason to make a sculpture for myself. Maybe to calm myself! Maybe for my loved ones, who want me so badly to succeed. Maybe because I have to! I don't know.

Working from home today. LOVE IT!! So it is Memorial day and no one wanted to work, so I said that I could from home. So here I am working from home. I am having a few technical difficulties, but other than that it's pretty good! I also brought my sketchbook, so that maybe some day I will do another piece. I am working on a few oil paintings. Which is wonderful and bit harder than I expected to get back into. I have not worked with oils in about 6 years. The dilemma was that I lived in apartments with roommates and I did not want to subject people to that oil paint smell ( I love the smell ) now I can do it in the garage and I don't even have to clean up after myself. What a great deal!

Don't worry I'll post pictures and videos.

What a wonderful night of merriment. We had around 20 performances. They were all wonderful! Singing, acting, dancing, art pieces, readings, poetry... It was lovely. Our stage is broken in now.

This is a pic of my niece playing on the stage.

We went to the 5x7 show on Thursday and Friday night to see my artwork as well as over 1500 other pieces. The whole experience was a bit intense. So many pieces to look at!! It could almost make you a little crazy. One of my pieces sold at the opening. I have never experienced anything quite like it. They counted down to 9 pm and then all of these people started running all over the place grabbing tags off the pieces they liked. It was chaotic, but gave me a rush. I just wanted to start grabbing tags as well even though I do not have the money to buy any of the pieces I wanted to grab a tag too!!

The other part of the evening that I thorougly enjoyed was watching people look at my artwork and comment. The good and the bad~ I loved it!

One couple came up and the gentleman liked a piece of mine but his wife just kept telling him " No sweetie not that one!". or the couple that came up and looked at my pin piece and stated " Oh it's only push pins" If you only knew. But how wonderful to have people just spend some of their time looking at a piece you created and making them think, even if sometimes it was negative~ It was wonderful to touch a person like that. My favorite thing about being an artist. There were a ton of positive comments as well : One gentleman telling his friend not to point at it someone else might see it and get it before him. People just coming up and twisting their heads around the pieces to see what they were made of, how they were attached, etc. I love art openings! I want to do this more often...
